Introduction

Have you ever wished that you could own your own race horse? Have you watched races and wished that it was your horse that was flying under the finish line and walking into the winner's circle? Well, we can't get you a real Thoroughbred but we might be able to offer you the next best thing: Web Runners, a Computer Fantasy Racing Club. We have been racing since 1996 and have had a lot of fun. We run races weekly, have stakes races and championships, breed our own horses, and hold 2 auctions, Spring which is for breeding stock, racers and young stock & a Fall which is for coming 2 year olds.   If you're interested in starting a stable, contact  The Racing Steward to get your name on our waiting list, but be prepared for a wait.

Each new stable has $200,000 for buying stock and to cover the cost of entry fees and/or breeding fees. Now once you get your horse, you will get his pedigree which will have his vital information and a GOT (Grumpy Old Trainer's report). The rest of the information you will find out about him/her as you race in different races. Below is a sample of what you can expect for information on your horse

All stats are rolled up by a computer program called Stretch Drive that was developed by Charles Schultz of Pa. This is all done randomly. Each horse is given a file number and that number is entered into the computer when the horse is to be raced. The computer then decides who is the winner of the race. Races are either flat or steeplechase and are from 5 furlongs up to 12 furlongs (1 1/2 miles). Results are then printed in a race forum format listing placings and distance.

This is how the races are recorded. The top row is in quarters such as 1/4 pole, 1/2 pole etc. Then we have the horses themselves and how they are ranked at each quarter. In this race we have Mari's Glory leading by a length over Witching Hour. She keeps that distance all the way to the wire. The track for this race is slow but it can be fast, Good, Slow or Wet/Sloppy. Lastly is the winning time i.e 1 minute 19 seconds and 1 tenth. We tried to add a little bit about each race but with so many entries, that sometimes isn't possible due to time.

Mari's Glory stayed just enough in front to tease her competition as she led from wire to wire.

After each race, keep track of your races and points for your horses. We keep a general sheet but it is each owners responsibility to keep track of his own horses.

As you can see, it isn't as complicated as it looks at first. We hope that you will join us for another year of racing at WEB RUNNERS.
